Episode 451 – Five for Fighting (Dom Riggio)

Hockey is enjoyed by millions of people. Comics are also beloved by millions of fans. So, what happens when you combine hockey and comics? You get the world of Mess Bucket Comics. Dom Riggio, the man behind this comics imprint, joins me on this episode to talk about his many projects. First off, we will dive into the background and Kickstarter info for the 4th issue of Dom’s hockey comic, Donnybrook. Dom and I also discuss his Darren McCarty comic and the history of Dom and Darren’s partnership. We will round out the episode talking about some of Dom’s past projects (Arcane Awakening and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper: the Kilted Avenger).  It is an episode that will cross-check your eardrums!

“Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!” is a famous introduction to one of the most iconic comedy shows ever. My guest on this episode of The PVDcast has a connection to that introduction. Corinne Britti is that guest and she stars in the movie, Saturday Night, which tells the tale of the first episode of SNL. Additionally, we will discuss Corinne’s other roles in Condor’s Nest and For Sale. You will even hear about a unique project that Corinne co-created that mixes comedy with mental health awareness.

Episode 449 – The Righteous Gemstones’ James DuMont

With over 170 credits on his resume, James DuMont is one of the busiest actors around. On PVDcast #449, James stops by to chat with me about his past and future projects. Hear about James’ experience as a cast member on The Righteous Gemstones and working with Danny McBride. On this episode of The PVDcast, I talk with an indie comic creator named Lee Xopher. Altered Ego is Lee’s comic that tackles the issue of using superpowers for valiant endeavors or for personal gain. We will discuss the status of issue #4 and its ongoing Kickstarter campaign. You will also get details on Lee’s creative process when it comes to characters and world building. The episode wraps up with Lee’s answer to that age-old question about superpowers.

We will definitely give our opinions on player trades, new coaching and GM hirings and how the Utah franchise will do in their new environment. According to some sports media, nearly 300 million people watch the sport of MMA. On this episode of The PVDcast, I am joined by Allen Levine, CEO and promoter of Coliseum Combat Zone MMA. This new MMA company has their inaugural event scheduled for September 14. Allen and I will discuss the match card and many other aspects of the event. This includes supporting the National Kidney Foundation through the event due to Allen’s experience with chronic kidney disease. We will wrap up our conversation chatting about Allen’s sports show, Pittsburgh Sportsline.
