Episode 295 – Encore Episode: Bruce Vilanch

This installment of The PVDcast is an Encore Episode. I went into the vault and pulled out a fun episode that deserves another airing. This episode will feature my conversation with Hollywood writer, Bruce Vilanch. Bruce shares stories of attending Ohio State University and his memories of living in Columbus, Ohio. Bruce and I also discuss working on Hollywood Squares and his long tenure as the head writer for the Oscars. Lastly, we tackle the subject of writing the notorious Star Wars Holiday Special! This episode is full of laughs and is a true cavalcade of comedy goodness!

Episode 294 – Stephen Hines VII

Zombies have been all the rage in pop culture for many, many years. The living dead that shuffle around the Earth looking to eat brains is a common take on these creatures.  But, on this episode of The PVDcast, you’ll hear about a unique twist on zombie lore! Comic creator, Stephen Hines joins me to talk about the new Kickstarter for his collection of his comic book, Zombie Fabulous! It is a tale of zombies, who are drag queens and must fulfill their lust for brains, while remaining fabulous! Stephen gives an update on the Kickstarter’s status, describes the perks of supporting the campaign and reveals the creative process for the project. We even discuss some of Stephen’s past projects and how music plays an important role in his professional and personal lives.

Episode 293 – Adam Fields IV

My guest on this episode of The PVDcast is independent comic creator, Adam Fields. He is the man behind Midnight 27 Studios and the creator of the comic book series, Prowl. Not only is Adam working on Prowl, but he is also involved in several other projects too. We chat about these new projects, Screen Boy, Ink & Point of Authority, discussing their basic plots, their characters, and the process for creating them. Since Adam has not appeared on The PVDcast in a while, we also recap his other past projects, which include the interactive comic, Zombie Office, his work on seven Marvel/Upper Deck trading card projects & even working with Blick Art Supplies. It’s one smashing good episode with plenty of anecdotes from Adam.

Episode 292 – Docta D.

On this episode of The PVDcast, I am joined by wrestling personality and wrestling journalist, Docta D. Throughout the years, Doc has covered the wrestling scene in the Maryland/Virginia/Washington D.C. area through his radio show, Wrestling Marks of Excellence Radio, and his TV show, Docta D’s Wrestling Showcase. We discuss these two media outlets, as well as Doc’s fandom and his thoughts on representation in the world of wrestling. We also chat about what indie wrestlers have made an impact and what ones will make an impact from the region. Episode 291 – Josh Schubart

On this episode of The PVDcast, I am joined by actor, Josh Schubart. Josh shares details about his rough childhood, including being homeless for a few years during his adolescence. Josh explains how finding acting in high school changed his life for the better. We also discuss his acting roles, his modeling career and his production company, Two Ladies and a Giant. Episode 290 – The State of AEW

For the first time in quite a while, the topic for this edition of The PVDcast was suggested by a loyal listener. On this episode, the current state of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) will be discussed by yours truly and The Pro Wrestling Pundits (DJ Joey Blayze and Ringside Rand). We will present some of the positive things happening in the company that keep us engaged and entertained. Additionally, we will talk about the things that AEW does that drives us bonkers. They say that music is a universal language. On this episode of The PVDcast, I’m joined by a man that is fluent in that language, musician Paul Abbott. He is the lead vocalist & guitarist for the Columbus based band, The Secret Life of Houseplants. Paul and I discuss the formation of the band, Paul’s background in the local music scene and his inspirations on his music. We also dive into talking about the production of the band’s latest album, Music for Houseplants and Other Wallflowers and details on future shows. Episode 288 – Frank James Bailey IV

Frank James Bailey, voice actor and comic creator, joins me on this episode of The PVDcast to talk about his creation, Tercona. This family-friendly, superhero comic book has gone through a reimagining from its original format. We talk about this change, as well as his inspirations, its characters, and the newest issue of Tercona. Brian is finishing issue four and collecting all the issues into a newly remastered graphic novel!
