Episode 150 – ENCORE Episode: Chris Bournea

It’s episode #150 and The PVDcast is going to try something new by presenting an ENCORE presentation of a previous installment. To coincide with his huge movie premier next Thursday, I am sharing my conversation with Columbus filmmaker, Chris Bournea, on this ENCORE edition. Chris and I will discuss his documentary, Lady Wrestler: The Amazing, Untold Story of African-American Women in the Ring. This documentary chronicles the lives and careers of three brave, African -American women who fought to make their mark in the world of pro wrestling. You’re sure to learn something about pro wrestling, including how pivotal Columbus was to women’s wrestling.

Episode 149 – Stephanie Phillips

On this episode of The PVDcast, two of my favorite passions are merged together – hockey and comics! I am joined by Stephanie Phillips, the creator of Kicking Ice. This graphic novel tells the tale of two young girls, who have a love for hockey. But, their love of the game is challenged by those who think that girls shouldn’t share the same ice as boys. Stephanie shares why she created this graphic novel, her background in hockey, her fandom for the Tampa Bay Lightning and a few other topics. Episode 147.5 – Anarchy at the Arnold

The Arnold Sports and Fitness Expo is an annual event attended by thousands and thousands of people. This event is a celebration of all types of sports, including weightlifting, power-lifting, martial arts and more! This year, I will be at the Arnold, as part of New Ohio Wrestling’s premier event, Anarchy at the Arnold. Hear my thoughts on the challenge of calling all the action from NOW’s two-day event at this festival. I also give my opinions on the most recent WWE pay-per-view, Elimination Chamber. I wrap up this mini-episode with my insights on the NHL Trade deadline.

Episode 147 – Mike McG

On this episode of The PVDcast, I sit down with Mike McG., the creator of a fabulous YouTube channel called Mike McGTV. On his channel, Mike produces a variety of shows on a myriad of pop culture topics. We talk about the ups and downs of being a YouTube creator, as well as the many different shows Mike produces (including Remake Revolution, the show I was on earlier this week!) We even dive into a quick chat of the newest Marvel Studios hit, Black Panther. Even though this section will contain spoilers, don’t let that deter you from giving this episode a listen!

Episode 146 – Frank James Bailey 2

On this episode of The PVDcast, I am joined by Frank James Bailey, the creator of Tercona. Frank’s book, Tercona, is a family-friendly, illustrated novel about a young teenage superhero. We discuss book three of the series, Frank’s process and inspiration for creating his novels and what his goals are for Tercona. We also talk about Frank’s voice acting career and his life as a radio DJ.  As you can tell, Frank is not a one-trick pony! Throughout the history of pro wrestling, managers have played an important role in creating superstars. On this episode of The PVDcast, I am joined by one of the longest tenured managers in independent pro wrestling today. Ripper Blackhart joins me to talk about his fandom and his career in pro wrestling. Ripper shares his opinion on what makes a good manager and how to get “heat”. Episode 144 – Royal Rumble Recap

On this episode of The PVDcast, I am joined by DJ Joey Blayze and the returning Ringside Rand to discuss the WWE Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View. We give our thoughts and insights into what went down this past weekend at the annual event that kicks of “the road to Wrestlemania.” We also cover the NXT: Takeover Philadelphia event and even tackle some news from the squared circle. On this episode of The PVDcast, I am joined by movie buff and film critic, Paul Markoff. We discuss the releases that came out in the last half of 2017. We chat about the films that we loved and some that we didn’t love. We even give our Oscar picks, given that nominations were announced earlier this week. In two weeks, the WWE will present the Pay-Per-View event that kicks off the “road to Wrestlemania”. That event is, obviously, the Royal Rumble. I sit down with two guests, DJ Joey Blayze (@djjoeyblayze) and Miss Christina (@idontlovethat) to discuss the possible winners, losers and surprises that may happen in Philadelphia on January 28.
