Thanksgiving is upon us and that means it is time for the annual WWE spectacular, The Survivor Series! On this episode of The PVDcast, I’m joined by The Pro Wrestling Pundits (DJ Joey Blayze and Ringside Rand) to discuss this huge event. Each year, consumers buy millions of dollars’ worth of board and card games. On this episode of The PVDcast, I sit down with game maker, Jordan McLaughlin. Rookie Mage Games is the company Jordan created to produce his many card games. We highlight this large catalog of Jordan’s games and Jordan even walks me through the process of creating a card game. Episode 356 – Indie Comic Creator Panel (Monroe Pop Fest 2022)

On this episode of The PVDcast, I am joined by four indie comic creators who are producing a wide variety of comics. Frank James Bailey, the man behind the family friendly comic, Tercona is one of my guests. Andy Bennett, an artist who has worked on many comic books and with many publishers, such as Nix Comics, Caliber Comics, Moonstone Comics to name just a few is another guest. And wrapping up the lineup are Kyle and Tyler, two-thirds of the 3 Y’s Men Media group that produces Motor City Mo. These folks discuss the challenges of being an indie creator, their motivations for their projects, advice they would give based on their experiences and a whole lot more!

The world of comics has had many legendary creators. On this episode of The PVDcast, I am joined by two outstanding creators. Megaton Man’s Don Simpson and The Crow’s James O’Barr sit down to talk about the changes the comic book industry has gone through over the past few years. These gents also share tales about creating their famous projects. Throw in some questions from the audience and you have one epically insightful edition!

Episode 352 – NHL 2022 Season Preview

This week, the 2022 NHL season started and created a lot of hope for the 32 teams who want to lift Lord Stanley’s Cup. On this episode of The PVDcast, I am joined by hockey enthusiast, Luc Landry. Luc and I run down the many trades and signings from the off-season that shook things up for many teams. We also preview the new season, giving our thoughts on which teams might be playoff contenders and which teams might be playoff pretenders. Episode 351 – Lee Xopher

Every person has had a time where they did not fit in. This is one of many themes of the comic, Altered Ego. The creator of this comic, Lee Xopher, is my guest on this episode of The PVDcast. Lee and I discuss the history of the comic, its colorful set of characters and future plans for the story. We also chat about the current Kickstarter for issue #2. It was funded in one day, but we still talk about the impact the campaign can have on the project moving forward. Episode 350 – Jay Kalagayan II

Next week, Columbus, Ohio will host a celebration of cartooning, comics and illustration that is unlike any other. The Cartoon Crossroads Columbus festival (CXC) will occur over several days and locales throughout the capital city. Executive Director, Jay Kalagayan, joins me on this episode to talk about the event. Jay explains how CXC is much different than other conventions. He also shares how he became the Executive Director & explains what his goals are for the festival. Additionally, Jay also reveals the schedule of events and lists some of the guests coming to town.

It is not uncommon for indie comic creators to diversify their catalog. My guest on PVDcast #349 is in the middle of that task. Frank James Bailey is that guest and he talks about his new project, The Taming of April. This new project is a radical departure from his previous project, the kids’ comic, Tercona. Frank and I discuss why he is doing this project, the origins of this wild & raunchy tale and the current Kickstarter to fund this endeavor.
