Episode 196 – Ben Wright-Heuman

On this episode of The PVDcast, I sit down with cartoonist, Ben Wright-Heuman. He is the creator of two fascinating webcomics. The first is a webcomic called CosPain, which focuses on comic book/anime/cosplay convention life. The second is The Letters of The Devil, a mystery in the vein of Agatha Christie. Find out how Ben created these two webcomics and the challenges presented in producing two webcomics at the same time. We also chat about his vast catalog of other work, his foray into panels and how he believes conventions should be organized.

Memorial Day weekend marked the beginning of a new era in pro wrestling. All Elite Wrestling (AEW) presented their marque event, All In: Double or Nothing. Coinciding with this event was the premiere pro wrestling convention, Starrcast 2. I attended both of these events in Las Vegas, along with my two guests on this edition of The PVDcast.  My pal, Justin, and the man behind Mess Bucket Comics, Dom Riggio, join me to discuss their thoughts on the weekend’s events. My guest on this episode of The PVDcast could be called a Renaissance Man. Nik Havert is the man behind the imprint, Pickle Press. He has created a massive catalog of comics throughout the last twelve years. He is also well-known for his alter-ego, Victor Von Psychotron, a TV horror host. Nik also has written a book on the disaster movies of the 1970’s and is even a part-time DJ. Obviously, we chat about all of his projects and endeavors on this installment of The PVDcast!

On this episode of The PVDcast, I am joined by Tony Goins & Aaron Sinclair from the podcast, Distress Frequency. This podcast is quite unique, as it is presented in a radio drama format. Tony and Aaron explain the trials and tribulations of creating this type of podcast from writing episodes to casting actors/actresses to editing/producing each episode. Additionally, both Tony and Aaron share some insights on their other passions – comics and acting. Tony chats about his career creating independent comics; while Aaron talks about his acting career and the local movie making scene. It’s an episode that would make Orson Welles proud!

This imprint not only produces Bruce’s work, but helps other independent creators get their projects out to the public.
