Episode 340 – Lance Meredith

When someone talks about superheroes, many people automatically think of comic books. But there are many other mediums that spotlight characters that are superheroes. My guest on this edition of The PVDcast has created a superhero novel. Lance Meredith is a writer and the author of Guardian: Into the Light of Day.  Lance and I discuss the process for writing this novel, as well as why Lance chose to write this novel. We also dive into a chat about his inspirations for the character of Guardian. We close out our conversation by chatting about Lance’s life away from writing.

Episode 339 – Victor Dandridge Jr. 3

The focus of this edition of The PVDcast is a comic that can best be described as a mix of Muppet Babies meets The Justice League. My guest on this episode of The PVDcast is Victor Dandridge Jr., co-creator of the kid friendly comic, The Kinder Guardians. Victor has launched a Kickstarter to fund the final installment of his comic, consisting of two trade paperbacks containing the final story arcs for The Kinder Guardians.   We discuss all the aspects of the Kickstarter campaign, as well as the history of the project. Episode 338 – Gerald Glassford III

This past weekend, the WWE presented their annual pay-per-view event, Money in the Bank. The winners of their respective Money in the Bank matches earn a future championship match. On this episode of The PVDcast, fellow podcaster, Gerald Glassford (Pop Culture Cosmos & Lakers Fast Break podcast), joins me to discuss and analyze this event. We give our insights on each match, the build-up for these matches, and future possible storylines. We end the episode with a brief conversation about our favorite luchadors. Episode 337 – Aaron Lindeman

Luchadors, zombies and opossums are all topics discussed on this episode of The PVDcast! My guest is independent comic creator, Aaron Lindeman. He is the man behind the luchador inspired comic, The Fisherman. Aaron shares his reasons for making this comic, which includes a fandom of old El Santo movies. Aaron gives me a quick lesson about the lives of opossums, and we talk about his comic book fandom. We also chat about working with Stephen Hines on his weird and wild tale, Zombie Fabulous. Episode 336 – Robby “RAW” Melendez

Robby “RAW” Melendez is my guest on this installment of The PVDcast. Robby is the creator of the comic, Rebel Roach Versus Rocket Punch Siouxsie. We discuss this colorful project, as well as some of Robby’s other future endeavors. We also discuss Robby’s fandom of comics and his process for creating comics. Additionally, Robby shares his story of how he changed careers from the marketing world to making comics. This edition wraps up with one of the most touching, wild and incredible tales any guest has shared on this podcast!

Over the Memorial Day weekend, Columbus, Ohio witnessed a new comic book and pop culture convention debut. Episode 334 – Jill Redding II

Jill Redding makes her return to The PVDcast! Last May, Jill appeared on episode #283, in which we spoke about her roles on The Wire and Homicide: Life on the Street. Jill was invited back to discuss her other roles and career in the theater. We dive into her start in acting, her time in community theater and her company that produces murder-mystery theater. Jill even gives her opinions on how the entertainment industry has changed over the years and what advice she would give to new actors and actresses.

Episode 333 – SPACE 2022

The pandemic caused lots of events, including comic book conventions, to be cancelled, postponed or to go a virtual setup. On this episode of The PVDcast, I visit SPACE (Small Press & Alternative Comics Expo), which made its return to its regular format this past weekend. This convention showcases the many talented independent comic creators from Ohio and beyond! Throughout the day, I spoke to a lot of old friends and made some new friends too (see list below). Episode 332 – Tim Chizmar

This episode of The PVDcast might be the most insightful and philosophical episode ever. On this installment, I speak with Tim Chizmar, a man who has tons of projects happening. Tim is a producer, ghost writer, comedian, actor and one-time wrestling promoter. We chat about all of his projects, including his most recent film, The Nudels of Nudeland. This film is a comedy about a group of nudists. Tim is a practicing nudist and discusses the philosophy of nudism, as well as some of the most common stereotypes about his lifestyle.

Movies are at the center of discussion on this episode of The PVDcast. My guest for this chat about movies is Peter Abeyta from the Middle Class Film Class (MCFC) podcast. Peter, along with fellow hosts, Tyler and Joseph, produce this entertaining podcast that’s part movie news and part movie reviews. We discuss the format of the show, the origins of MCFC and even talk about Peter’s favorite episodes. We wrap up our discussion talking about some of our favorite films, in which we discover we have a mutual love for a movie that’s DY-NO-MITE!!!
