Episode 164 – Summerslam Preview (2018)

This weekend marks the return of the annual WWE Summerslam pay-per-view. I am joined on this episode of The PVDcast by DJ Joey Blayze and Ringside Rand to talk about this annual event. We breakdown the matches and give our opinions and predictions on what might happen this Sunday. We also discuss the big NXT Takeover show, which takes place on Saturday. Who will win the big matches? What new champs might be crowned? What wrestling product have I never watched? All these questions will be answered on episode 164!

Episode 163 – Wrestle Legends’ Matt Sweeney

The PVDcast has always focused on the independent spirit of folks creating unique ideas. This episode of The PVDcast is no different. On this edition, I am joined by Matt Sweeney, the man behind Wrestle Legends. This inaugural wrestling fan fest is Matt’s idea and is coming to Hilliard, Ohio on August 18. Matt and I discuss the trials and tribulations of being a first-time promoter of such an event. We also chat about the various stars that will be appearing at Wrestle Legends (such as Jimmy Hart, Sgt. Slaughter, Road Warrior Animal, etc.). If you’re a wrestling fan, you don’t dare want to miss this event or miss out on this great conversation!

Episode 162 – Paul Markoff VII

Resident film critic, Paul Markoff, joins me on this episode of The PVDcast. Paul is making his seventh appearance on this podcast to discuss one of our shared passions – movies!  We discuss the movies that have come out in the first half of 2018. We give our thoughts on what we liked and didn’t like about the films that we saw from earlier this year. We don’t give away too much about these flicks, but there is always the chance that something could be spoiled. Listen with caution! We also chat about Paul joining the world of podcasting; as he is the co-host of The Filmbound Podcast (www.filmboundpod.com). Grab some popcorn and a soda and settle for this feature presentation of The PVDcast!

Episode 161 – Ted Sikora

Throughout the history of comic books, there have been some unique superheroes. On this episode of The PVDcast, I am joined by Ted Sikora, the co-creator of Cleveland’s only superhero, Apama The Undiscovered Animal. A proud citizen of Cleveland, Ted talks about the unorthodox creative process for Apama. We also chat about Tap Dance Killer, another comic book that is a spin-off from Apama. We even manage to fit in a little Cleveland sports news. What does Ted think about LeBron’s departure from the Cavs? Does Ted think the Browns will be winners this season? Tune into episode 161 to find out!

Adam Fields, the creator of the Prowl comic book series joins me on this episode of The PVDcast.  Adam is one busy man!  He gives us an update on Prowl, as he just wrapped up issue #5 and is starting on issue #6. Adam & I talk about his projects for the Marvel/Upper Deck trading card line and his commission work, too. We even chat about how technology, specifically your phone, can make comics come to life! What do I mean by that statement? Well, you’ll have to listen to find out!

Episode 159.5 – Changes?

Last week, there was no new episode of The PVDcast. I return this week with a mini-episode to give an update on some improvements to this beloved podcast. A move to Libsyn (Liberated Syndication) is in the works, as well as the search for new sponsors. I also touch base on the death of Steve Ditko, the controversy surrounding NJPW, talk about my IMDB profile and highlight some great wrestling shows that are coming up for NOW & OCW.  I would like to state that in the episode, I state that Buzzbin is in Akron, but it is actually in Canton, Ohio. All mistakes aside, you need to check out this short, but sweet edition!

Episode 159 – Dan Noble

On this episode of The PVDcast, I am joined by Dan Noble, a member of The Finest: a G.I. Joe Costume Club. Dan is the Executive Officer of the Central Defense’s Fighting Fifth Garrison. Dan and I talk about the history and organization of The Finest, cosplaying and how The Finest helps the community through their charitable work. There is also plenty of chatter about G.I. Joe toys, the cartoons and the comics. This episode will certainly make you say, “Yo Joe!”

SPOILER ALERT: From the 30:00-minute mark to the 33-minute mark, Dan and I will discuss the Netflix series, The Toys that Made Us. Spoilers may be revealed!

Episode 158 – Wizard World Wrap Up 2018

Wizard World Columbus happened two weeks ago and I was a part of the annual convention. I chronicle my experiences there on this episode of The PVDcast. This year brought new opportunities to my doorstep. I got the chance to interview Kevin Sorbo, Kato Kaelin, Lani Sarem, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Brian Krause and Daniel Logan. I also participated in my first two panels; one of which was the much-anticipated rematch of Remake Revolution. Was my team successful in defending our titles? What questions did I ask the aforementioned celebrities? There’s only one way to find out, tune into PVDcast #158!

Episode 157 – Bobby Fisher

On this episode of The PVDcast, I am joined by Bobby Fisher. No, he’s not the chess master, but a local podcaster, who has two independently produced podcasts.  Nerdfect Strangers and The Wrestling Time Machine are his two podcast creations. Nerdfect Strangers tackles topics related to wrestling, comics and video games; whereas The Wrestling Time Machine analyzes one specific time period in pro wrestling. Bobby and I discuss what it takes to create these two podcasts, the pros and cons of podcasting and we even fit in a debate about the current state of pro wrestling. If there ever was an episode that fits the label of Podcast Power, this is it!

Episode 156 – Stephen Hines IV

On this episode of The PVDcast, I am joined by Stephen Hines, creator of Valedictorian USA, Zombie Fabulous and Rebirth Defect. Stephen returns for this fourth time on The PVDcast to discuss the upcoming Kickstarter campaign for his new project, Soccer Mom Killer.
